Killorglin Chamber of Commerce commissioned a replica of the 1916 Proclamation which was unveiled in glorious Sunshine last Friday morning. School children from all the local schools took part in reading out the proclamation to the crowd gathered.
Kerry County Council funded the monument and all the local councillors were in attendance for the unveiling including the Lord Mayor Patrick O’Connor-Scarteen.
Ger Counihan- Chairman of Killorglin Chamber Alliance addressed the audience with a brief history of the newly formed alliance and its main aims within the community.
James Ferris of Ferris Memorials who constructed the proclamation was also in attendance and was delighted with the end result. He explained that he structure is made up of granite with the wording lazered into the stone.
This area of library place is opposite the tourist office and a great example of how Killorglin both honours the Past and the Future with the “100” year time capsule located alongside the Proclamation.
