There is a two day festival in June and a seven day ‘Harvest Festival’ in September, it’s one of Ireland’s showcasing events.The ‘ Harvest Festival’ takes place from the 8th to the 14th of September.

The first day consists of a family fun day with clowns, free rides and lots of entertainment to enjoy. Many great races begin on the second day and much more activities take place on this day. The big race is on the third day of the festival and many people may decide to bet on horses, etc. Wednesday, the fourth day of the festival is synonymous with the biggest prize of the week, The Guinness Kerry National Handicap Steeplechase of €200,000 over 3m.

Thursday is the fifth day of the festival and marks the first of The Best Dressed Competitions. These best dressed competitions are usually by local companies.Racing is almost secondary when it comes to Friday, the sixth day of the festival. The highlight of the week is the McElligott’s Honda Ladies Day.Last year it was judged by actress and media personality Aoibhin Garrihy assisted by fashion stylist and TV personality Marietta Doran.The overall prize was a Honda Civic for a year and €3,000 in cash. There is also other prizes to be won on the day .

The last day of the festival is Saturday. There is also other best dressed competitions on the day. The last race of the day is The Brendan Daly Memorial INH flat race. The race was introduced in 2018 to honour our stalwart Secretary who held the position for many years.
