Councillor Patrick O’Connor-Scarteen has welcomed an investment of €500,000 for replacement water pipes in the Beaufort Area.

The Councillor saidI have been calling for improvements to the Mid Kerry Water Scheme for a long time and I am glad that Government Funding has resulted in significant progress in recent years.

In a letter sent to Councillor Scarteen O’Connor, Irish Water said “Mid Kerry Rural Water Supply Sanitation /Beaufort Area, Irish Water and Kerry County Council have been extremely active in recent years in replacing the old and sub-standard water mains on the Mid Kerry Regional Water Supply Scheme. In 2014, 2015, 2016,2017 and 2018 approximately 22Km of mains replacement, costing almost €4 million, was carried out in the Mid-Kerry scheme. Much of this work was concentrated on the western ‘leg’ through Kilgobnet and Meanus to Killorglin and Milltown, and in Shannera and Cappagh North, Beaufort Work of value €1M was also carried out to replace almost 8Km of water mains from Glencuttane Cross to Ardmoniel and Annadale bridge, Killorglin on the contiguous Breanlee Water Supply Scheme.”

The Irish Water representative went on to say “Further pipe replacement works €500,000 at Cooleanig Beaufort and are also scheduled for this year.”
